Wish we lived closer – I’d stop by your market and farm weekly! Those raspberries and snow peas – wonderful! So how do you keep the chickens from the berries? And do you have to worry about birds?

    • Lisa says:

In the past we have not had any problems with wild birds or chickens in the raspberries. I think the thorny nature of the bushes help with that. As for this season…the only time the chickens seem to be over near the raspberries are when one of us is over there working on them. Those chickens love to follow us around. Typically they have their own daily agenda though of foraging underneath bushes and shrubs during the day. Other than when the seedlings in the garden were small…the chickens (in my opinion) don’t seem to bother what is growing.

      :) Lisa

hi Lisa! It all looks so beautiful! It also looks like hard work!!! If you need any free farm hands, Jasper, Isidora and I would love to come up for a visit and help out! I wanted to tell you about a lady I met in Morrisville, she opened a little cafe/catering business, she is on facebook and the restaurant is called Comfort Foods, you can find a link on my Facebook page I think, anyway she tries to use only locally grown ingredients produce, eggs, not sure if you will do any distributing in the future but you could keep her name in mind. Also she does canning classes so she may be a good resource for you or have some materials she can email you. her name is Kim, you can refer to me as the lady from the Moms club that owned Play Dress Up consignment if you want to tell her how you heard of her! <3

Wow that’s a lot of raspberries! I love the overhead perspective of your garden. It inspires me to expand ours. Although I’m sure I won’t, but I can still dream. Just like I do every late winter when the seed catalogs start to arrive.

Your home is so beautiful, and so inspiring. I can’t wait until we get some crops growing here next year, for now all I can do is plan and look to your photos for motivation. Thank you so, so much for sharing!

Yum! The garden looks lovely and those berries looks so tasty. Some day I have to have a big garden!

  9. Kim says:

It all looks so good. And love the different perspective of your garden. We have wild raspberries growing on our property and if my little man seems to have disappeared we know where to look…he loves them.

    Thanks for sharing.

I am just amazed at what you all have created with this farm, and I appreciate you sharing your journey with the rest of us.

Lisa, you know, I should thank you. There are a lot of times, lately, that I just want to quit right now, and go and do something else. Or indeed nothing else. I am feeling over-challenged in my rented-mini-farm life. So often. And every time, I decide to have a cup of tea, feel a little sorry for myself, and indulge in a little trip to my google reader. And there you are, bright, and hopeful, and full of positives and lovely LOVELY pictures. And every time, I think, OOOH, I want to do what SHE does. Oh, wait. I do. So thank you. xxx
