Girl’s Capped Sleeve Spring Shirt: Bella has been asking me when when when I am going to knit her something. She’s been patiently waiting. Several years ago I knit this pattern up for her and thought I would give it another go. It is simple and the end product is something very practical to wear alone or over a long sleeved shirt when it’s a bit colder. I am using some beautiful purple and pink yarn naturally dyed by Brambleberry Yarns. (Someday I’ll get a swift, for now, I hand wind.)

Reader’s Digest Complete Photography Manual: I have been thinking a lot lately about my desire to brush up on my photography skills and do a little more with my photos. One of the first sentences in the book reads, “There is nothing like the eager anticipation of collecting your photographs from the processing laboratory”. Although I know that feeling well, it’s been a long time. I am thankful for being able to edit and delete my photos digitally these days! This book was published in 2000, so it’s a bit outdated, but still dives deep on the basics, which applies to both film and digital. Amazing how much can change in such a short time!

I bought this pattern, I think… last year! And never got around just starting it, because I want to finish other things first. That yarn is cute! I actually have 2 tiny balls of leftover given by someone that looks like it, but it’s cotton.

Your photography is always beautiful. Eyecandy to me! Of course there’s always still room for improvement, but I already love your pictures very much :)

what sweet knitting you have going on. your book sounds good! i shoot both film and digital, there are so many good things about both! i think one of the best things you can read is your cameras manual, if you don’t have it, it’s easy to find online (sometimes you have to pay a nominal fee) but i think it’s worth it!

It is a great combo…and I love that it is dyed with bits of nature. The pattern is turning out lovely as it stitches up…will be sharing the finished project soon!

    Hello! Visiting from SouleMama.

I picked up that very same book at my local library. Having no formal photography training (I’m still wrestling with f-stops and ISO as concepts), I find it helpful to browse a book now and then. Each one I read, I learn one or two new things that stick with me. Slow progress, but progress nonetheless.

So far, my favorites have been:
Expressive Photography: The ShutterSisters’ Guide to Shooting from the Heart – http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8271474-expressive-photography

National Geographic Photographing your Family – http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2389048.Photographing_Your_Family

    Luck!

Thanks for the links! The thing that gets me…is that until I am actually messing with the F stops and ISO its hard for me to get…so away I click and spin dials until it makes sense to me. The two weeks since I have posted this have proven wonders (to me at least). I LOVE photography!

      :) Lisa

What a lovely blog and I don’t think your photography needs a bit of brushing-up!
