Might I say that I look forward to making these lists each year? Things pop up into my mind and I think, “Oh, I should add that to my list”. And as each year rolls along…I still save it for that week…maybe even the night before…to come up with these little tidbits about me. So, here you go…for humor, enjoyment, and to shine just a wee bit more about the person I am…I present you today, with my birthday list…to celebrate…35!!!
.) I think all stairs should be carpeted, especially in a house with animals.
.) I vacuum everyday. Dust drives me crazy…cobwebs too.
.) As a kid, when I was saving up to buy myself a Nintendo, towards the end I was feeling impatient, so I gathered the remaining balance from my coin collections.
.) I try to remember to tell each of my children I love them every single day.
.) I truly deeply believe that the body and mind can heal itself from virtually anything.
.) Tape rollers are my friend.
.) I have owned 7 vehicles since I turned 16.
.) I had a pink bike with white flowers on the seat as a kid. My best friend who moved across the street had the same one. I think that’s how we met. We’re still friends.
.) In 6th grade, I was one of the shortest kids in my class. Now I am 5′ 11″.
.) I used to collect a lot of things. One thing was The California Raisin figures from Hardees (I think), my dad would drive me there each week when each new figure came out. Those little things meant so much to me. Like collecting those plastic connector bracelets out of the 25 cent machines at the grocery store too. I feel like I jip my children of stuff like that.
.) I’ve made mistakes in my life, but I say that in way that I can look back and understand and appreciate…the way each and every decision I have made has helped form the person I am right now, who I feel pretty darn good about.
.) I still have my teddy bear, a panda bear, that I got for my second Christmas. I know the story of how he got to my house (via train ride and boxes with rustling tissue paper) and into my arms very very well…thanks to my Dad telling me the story probably close to 8 thousand times at bedtime growing up.
.) I have been breastfeeding and/or pregnant for a tad longer then 13 years straight, and loving that bittersweet time in my life of motherhood.
.) When my first little sister was being born, I stayed with my Aunt in college and ate crackers and butter.
.) One day I would love to have a salt water pool. You know, the kind with plants and waterfalls and cascading hot tubs and all that.
.) I would also love a grove of almond trees.
.) I could recite the books Silly Sally and Good Night Moon in my sleep. Both are longtime favorites.
.) This is my fourth birthday list of randomness, which makes a total of 134 random pieces of information about me to marvel.
.) If I brushed my hair it would frizz beyond any understandable measure. Hello curly hair.
.) I’m told that I say, “Holy Toledo” a lot.
.) The one and only time I ever went to a tanning booth (before my high school prom) I passed out in the tanning booth, as in blacked out and fell flat on my face. Lesson learned.
.) There are days when I stay in my pajama pants all. day. long.
.) Someday I’d like to learn how to play the guitar.
.) I always thought it would be fun to tap dance too.
.) My grandfather told me if I learned to play the bag pipes, he would pay for me to go to college. Sadly, I didn’t take him up on the offer.
.) One time, I rescued an injured seagull from the highway near the beach and took it to a rehabilitation center for birds. I think it had a broken wing, but I can’t remember. I just know I brought it home, from Delaware to PA. Then I learned it is actually illegal to cross state lines with native wildlife, so I had to drive it back to DE to a rehab center for birds down there. All for a seagull.
.) I think that Marshall Rosenberg and non-violent communication could help heal our society and world in a gazillion and one ways.
.) I can wiggle my ears. Both of them. And my kids think it is silly.
.) In high school I would listen to my favorite songs over and over and over and over and write down the lyrics a little at a time so I could sing them.
.) Often when I am driving, I find myself drumming my fingers to music, which is sometimes only in my head.
